George John Kingsnorth attended East London College and was enrolled in the University of London Officers Training Corps. He was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Engineers and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on the 1st of July 1917. Lieutenant Kingsnorth served in France during the Great War until June of 1916 when he was wounded and invalided home. After his convalescence he returned to France in November of 1916 and served there until January of 1919 when he returned home. Kingsnorth was demobilized in July of 1920.
