STATE CLASPS FOR SERVICE IN
THE SOUTH AFRICA WAR OF 1899-1902
The following clasps for the Queens South Africa Medal,
1899-1902 are among the most common found on the medal. They were
issued to troops who served in the areas described below and who
did not receive a clasp for any specific action that took place
in the districts in question.
- [CAPE COLONY]: Issued to all troops in the Cape Colony at
any time between the 11th of October 1899 and
the 31st of May 1902, who received no clasp
for any action already specified in the Cape Colony, nor
the [NATAL] clasp.
- [ORANGE FREE STATE]: Issued to all troops in the Orange
River Colony at any time between the 28th of
February 1900 and the 31st of May 1902, who
received no clasp which had been already specified for an
action in the Orange River Colony.
- [TRANSVAAL]: Issued to all troops in the Transvaal at any
time between the 24th of May 1900 and the 31st
of May 1902, who received no clasp for an action in the
Transvaal, which had already been specified.
