The Pacific Star (*)
(8th December 1941
to 2nd of September 1945)
This star was awarded for service in the Pacific theatre of operations between the 8th of December 1941 and the 2nd of September 1945, both dates inclusive. Qualifying service for the Army was restricted to that territory which had been subjected to enemy or allied invasions. Service in Burma was, however, excluded. Service in China and Malaya between the 8th of December 1941 and the 15th of February 1942 was included.
Those who qualified for both the Pacific and Burma Stars were awarded a silver rose emblem to be worn on the ribbon of the star that was earned first. The recipient of the Pacific Star who also qualified for the Burma Star was awarded a bar with the title [BURMA] to be affixed to the ribbon when the Pacific Star itself was being worn.
The ribbon of the Pacific Star is dark green with red edges with a central yellow stripe, also a thin one of dark blue and another of light blue. The dark blue stripe is worn farthest from the left shoulder; that is, to the left when facing the wearer. The green and yellow symbolize the forests and beaches; the dark blue represents the Royal Navy, the red the Army, and the light blue the Royal Air Force.
