Ernest Jones David was from Port Talbot, Glamorgan, Wales. Prior to the Great War of 1914-1918 he was a General Post Office Overseer.
David enlisted in the Royal Engineers as a Sapper to serve in the Great War. He was posted to an R.E. Signal Service unit and served in Mesopotamia and India. For his service he was awarded the British War Medal and Victory Medal.
