20 October 1915: Promoted Temporary Lieutenant.

13 December 1915: Arrived in France.

12 December 1916: Promoted Temporary Major. On the staff as Deputy Assistant Director Inland Water Transport (graded Class BB).

11 December 1917: Mention in Despatches.

17 March 1918: Promoted Temporary Lieutenant Colonel. Appointed Assistant Director Inland Water Transport (graded Class X).

11 November 1918: Returned to England. Awarded the 1914-15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal for service in the Great War.

3 June 1919: Awarded the Order of the British Empire. Award for "valuable services rendered in connection with military operations in France."

5 July 1919: Mention in Despatches.

1920: Relinquished commission.

21 December 1921: Presentation of the Order of the British Empire made by the Governor of Gibraltar.
